The Lagos State Command on Tuesday disclosed that the Afrobeats singer, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley has been arrested.

Police spokesperson in Lagos, Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed this on Tuesday via his X-page (formerly Twitter) said naira Marley is in custody for interrogation over the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly as Mohbad.

He wrote: “Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities…

The Marlian Music boss in a tweet via his verified X handle on Tuesday night that said he had returned to Nigeria to assist police in ongoing investigation in Mohbad’s Death.

He wrote,

“I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole.

“I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.”

In a statement last Tuesday, Marley vowed to clear his name and prove his innocence maintaining that he has no hand in Mohbad’s death.

Mohbad died on September 12, 2023 at age 27 under controversial circumstances and was buried the following day.

His body was however exhumed for autopsy by the Lagos Police Command to unravel the cause of his death.
