River State Governor Siminialayi Fubara has reacted to insinuations that state is engulfed in crisis maintaining that the state is safe.
Fubara spoke at the flag-off ceremony for a 20,000-unit housing project in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.
“Rivers State is a haven for investment. What you hear on the radio or see on TV – ‘Rivers State is not safe; there is a crisis’ – is not the truth.
“Rivers State is safe and secure for anyone to come and invest. Your investment is safe in our hands.”
No fewer than seven commissioners have resigned from the Rivers State executive council amid the tension Gov. Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike over control of the state political structure
The speculated crisis has also led to the defection of 27 lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Recall that Fubara demolished the Rivers State Assembly with the intention of building a new one.
However, the defected lawmakers converged at a place near the old building to hold plenary sessions.
