The visit was follow-up to his earlier message mourning military personnel and other passengers who died in tragedy.
Obi used visit to honour fallen and reflect on sacrifices made by members of Armed Forces and other security agencies in line of duty. He described deceased as courageous Nigerians who put their lives on line to defend country and protect its citizens, stressing that their service and sacrifice should never be taken for granted.
He extended his condolences to Nigerian Air Force and families, colleagues and loved ones of those who lost their lives. Obi also prayed for eternal rest of departed and asked God to grant their families strength and fortitude to bear loss.
The NAF ATR-42 aircraft crashed during routine mission from Benin to Lagos on October 5. Air Force later confirmed that 25 people — five crew members and 20 passengers — were on board and that there were no survivors.
The NAF has ordered comprehensive investigation into circumstances of crash.
