Large debris from the Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, Ilaje LGA, Ondo State on Monday has been recovered.
The aircraft, tail number NGR 931, with 25 passengers and 7 crew, was on routine mission from Benin to Lagos when ATC lost contact at 9:13 a.m. It crashed into a swampy river area near Naval Base.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who visited the site, said no survivor was found. Responders recovered fragments including wing parts, uniforms, ID cards and personal items. The main wreckage is believed to be deeply submerged.
Ondo State has deployed swamp buggies to aid Navy, NAF, NEMA, SEMA and local divers in recovery, as investigation continues.
