Alabi was said to have attacked the farmer who challenged him for stealing his farm produce.

Sources close to the community told journalists in Ado Ekiti yesterday that the deaf and dumb man was caught in the act on the farmland.

The source said: “The deaf and dumb man had on the fateful day, gone to the farm of Sikiru, to steal some farm produce, and when Sikiru had the effrontery of coming out to question why he had been stealing his farm produce overtime, the deaf and dumb suspect, Alabi became violent, and attacked him with deep machete cut on his head.

“The victim was drenched in the pool of his own blood, after being attacked, his agonising cries for help, were heard by other nearby farmers who stormed the scene, rounded him up, and later called police attention.”

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Ekiti State Command, DSP Sunday Abutu confirmed the incident and the arrest of the culprit.

Abutu said the police had commenced an investigation into the incident
