The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has ordered the technical crew of the Super Falcons to step down with immediate effect following the team’s poor outing at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.*
The federation announced the decision on Monday in a statement posted on its official X account.
“The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has asked members of the technical crew of the Super Falcons to step down with immediate effect,” the NFF said.
The directive affects Head Coach Justin Madugu and other members of the coaching and backroom staff.
Nigeria endured a difficult campaign in Morocco. The Super Falcons opened Group C with a 3-2 defeat to debutants Malawi, and their run ended in the quarter-finals with a 1-0 loss to Cameroon on August 8, 2026. It was Nigeria’s first exit at the quarter-final stage of the competition.
The result also cost the team automatic qualification for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Nigeria had a second chance through the African qualification play-off but lost 2-1 to South Africa.
