The All Progressives Congress, APC, has disowned Mr Abayomi Hunye who claims to be its governorship candidate for Ogun State in the 2027 election, describing him as an imposter.*
The party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, in a statement on Monday, said Senator Adeola Olamilekan remains the duly nominated APC candidate for the Ogun 2027 governorship election.
“Hunye is not a member of the APC in good standing. He was suspended from the party on April 7, 2026. He is an imposter currently on suspension,” Basiru said.
According to him, the suspension followed a petition from Hunye’s Tube Ward in Ipokia Local Government Area and was ratified by the Ogun State Working Committee before being communicated to the national headquarters.
Basiru listed the grounds for the suspension to include activities injurious to the party’s image, anti-party conduct and actions aimed at causing disaffection and division among loyal members.
He described Hunye’s recent self-declaration as the party’s governorship candidate as “completely false, unauthorised and a mischievous act aimed at misleading the public.”
The APC scribe stated that following the validly conducted primary, Senator Adeola Olamilekan emerged as the party’s candidate with Balogun Abiodun as running mate, in line with the Electoral Act 2026 and INEC guidelines.
He added that the names and particulars of Olamilekan and Abiodun had been uploaded on the INEC portal, and the commission had issued official acknowledgement slips confirming them as the recognised APC candidates for Ogun 2027.
“Any person, group or organisation that associates or transacts political business with Hunye under the guise of the APC does so at their own risk. The party will not be liable for any financial loss, legal disputes or criminal liability arising from such dealings,” Basiru warned.
He urged APC supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, and to contact the party’s national secretariat for clarification and official updates.
