Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced a personal cash gift of N20 million each to the overall best graduating students of Lagos State University, LASU, for two academic sessions.*
The announcement was made during the institution’s combined convocation ceremonies held at the main campus in Ojo on Tuesday.
The beneficiaries are Ayilara Olawale, who emerged as the best graduating student for the 2024/2025 session with a First Class degree in Project Management Technology, and Adebanjo Oluolamide, who clinched the top spot for the 2025/2026 session with a First Class degree in Aerospace Engineering.
According to the governor, the gesture is to encourage academic excellence and reward hard work among students in state-owned institutions.
The recognition comes after the two students had earlier received academic awards under LASU’s institutional programs.
The joint convocation marked the graduation of thousands of students across both academic years, including hundreds who graduated with First Class honours.
