Troops of Nigerian Army’s 35 Battalion have arrested three suspected terrorists while allegedly transporting N2.7m ransom and mobile phones to terror kingpin in Faskari LGA of Katsina State.

Suspects were arrested at about 11:30 a.m on Sept. 24, 2026, while riding motorcycle in Faskari area.

They were identified as Habibu Hamza, 35; Inusa Alhaji Iliya, 15; and Umar Alhaji Isihu, 16.

According to military sources, preliminary interrogation showed suspects were taking ransom and phones to two individuals identified as Alhaji Gadani and Zailani Shu’ibu.

Gadani was said to be younger brother of late Ado Aleru and based in Yankuzo village, while Shu’ibu was reportedly located around Unguwan Tsamiya, both in Faskari LGA.

Items recovered included N2.7m cash, one Android phone and two Tecno phones.

Suspects and exhibits have been transferred to 17 Brigade Provost Group for further investigation.

In separate operations, troops of CT2 and FOB Jibia conducted fighting patrols and stop-and-search operations along Jibia-Katsina highway, Wanzamai-Faskari-Yankara-Unguwan Boka-Sheme-Funtua-Giwa axis and other areas.

Military said operations were aimed at restricting movement of terrorists and kidnappers, adding that security situation was calm but unpredictable.

The arrest underscores role of ransom couriers and intermediaries in support networks of kidnapping groups.

However, the identities and alleged roles of the suspects remain subject to further investigation.
