As part of activities to mark his first year in office, Ondo state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN has announced that 180 women across the 18 local government areas of the state will be given One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000) each as loan by the State Micro Credit Agency on 23rd Friday February, 2018 at the International Event Center, (The Dome), Igbatoro Road, Akure.
The Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee and Commissioner of Finance, Wale Akinterinwa made the disclosure on Friday February 3, 2018, while addressing journalists at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka ,Akure.
Akinterinwa disclosed further that eminent constitutional lawyer, Prof. Akin Oyebode will be on ground to deliver a lecture titled ” Rethinking The Nigerian Nationhood: Issues and Challenges ” on Monday, February 19, 2018, to mark the First Anniversary of Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN in office.
The Anniversary lecture is to be chaired by a former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Alani Akinrinade.
It will be recalled that Akeredolu was sworn in as the 6th democratically elected Governor of Ondo State on February 24, 2017.
According to Wale Akinterinwa, the Governor will use the one-week Anniversary to commission some of the completed projects as well as flag-off new ones across the three senatorial Districts of the State.
Besides the lecture that will be delivered on Monday morning by Prof. Oyebode, Governor Akeredolu will commission a standard table tennis courts at the Akure township Stadium. There will also be novelty football matches between the State Executive and Legislative Members and the State chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress for the entertainment of guests.
On Tuesday February 20 and Wednesday 21, 2018, Akeredolu will commission projects in Ondo South and Ondo Central Senatorial Districts as well as flag-off the new ones.
Ondo North Senatorial District will host Akeredolu on Thursday February 22, 2017 as the Governor will inaugurate many infrastructural facilities for the benefit of the people of the State.
Lined up for the inauguration on Friday, February 23, 2018 are Technology Hub at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Weewood Empowerment Programme, and empowerment loan for 180 women after which a Jumat Service will hold at the Central Mosque, Akure. This will be followed by Choral and Virtual Pipe Organ concert at St Patrick’s Anglican Church, Owo.
On Saturday February 24, 2018, there will be Unification Rally holding at MKO Abiola Democracy Park, Akure, and media chat at the Ondo State Rediovision Corporation (OSRC), Akure.
The first anniversary will be rounded off with an Inter-denominational Service in conjunction with NLC on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the popular Democracy Park, Akure.
