Katsina State Government says it has expended over N9 billion to rehabilitate dilapidated primary school buildings across the state.
This was revealed by the Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Lawal Buhari, in an interview on Saturday.
He added that the money was expended from over a six year period of 2015 to 2021.
Buhari noted that part of the money was used for the provision of more than 59,000 tables and chairs for the schools.
He said the state government, within the same period, had ensured prompt payment of Matching Grant on N1.2 billion to the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Abuja.
He added that the state’s commitment to teachers’ welfare had seen years of backlogs of their promotion cleared within period under review.
