Bauchi State caucus of the All Progressives Congress, on Tuesday night, rejected moves by the APC stakeholders to admit Governor Bala Mohammed into the party.

The decision was disclosed by the caucus shortly after its meeting held in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The governor had reportedly planned to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP into the African Democratic Congress, ADC on March 31, 2026.

However, the expected defection was delayed after the governor met the National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside the Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, fueling speculations that he may be on his way to the ruling party.

Addressing journalists after the caucus meeting on Tuesday night, the senator representing Bauchi North Senatorial District and Chairman of the Bauchi APC caucus, Sama’ila Dahuwa, declared that members unanimously resolved to reject Mohammed’s proposed admission into the party.

He noted that the caucus, after exhaustive deliberations, “unequivocally rejects” the move.

According to Senator Dahuwa, “the caucus firmly holds that his (Kwankwaso) admission into the APC at this time will be detrimental to the party’s cohesion, credibility, and electoral prospects in Bauchi State”.

Following the leadership crisis that crippled the PDP, Bala Mohammed had signaled a move to defect to either the APC or ADC.
