Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have rescued two kidnapped victims, arrested 11 suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate and recovered weapons in Plateau State.
The operation was conducted in the early hours of Saturday, September 19, 2026, by troops of Sector 1, Sub-Sector 12 deployed at Lamingo, following credible intelligence on kidnappers operating in Rayfield and other parts of Jos North Local Government Area.
Acting on the intelligence, troops raided suspected hideouts at Shere, Gwafan and Maza Hills, leading to the arrest of 11 suspects.
The victims, abducted from Gwafan Community on September 18, positively identified three of the suspects as members of the syndicate responsible for their abduction.
In a related operation, troops of Sector 3 in Bassa LGA recovered a locally fabricated rifle and arrested a suspect during a cordon-and-search operation at about 6:00 p.m. on September 19.
Similarly, troops of Sector 8 in Mangu LGA apprehended a suspect during a confidence-building patrol along the Tul-Ntam-Angwan Mata-Deng-Deng axis. A search led to the recovery of a locally fabricated automatic weapon, nine rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and a mobile phone.
The arrested suspects are in custody and undergoing investigation.
Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Maxwell Dangana, commended the troops for their professionalism and urged them to sustain the momentum to deny criminal elements freedom of action.
He thanked residents of Plateau State for their support and urged continued provision of credible information to consolidate peace in the state.
