Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have neutralised a terrorist, recovered an AK-47 rifle and rescued six kidnap victims.

According to him the successes were recorded in operations carried out in Sokoto and Zamfara States on September 26, 2026.

In Sokoto State, troops of Sector 2, acting on credible intelligence on a suspected terrorist camp in Gudu Local Government Area, swiftly assaulted the location. During the operation, troops made contact with an isolated terrorist and neutralised him.

Items recovered from the encounter include one AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a foreign military uniform and various tools and clothing.

Similarly, in Zamfara State, on the evening of same day, troops of Sector 2 responded to information on attempted kidnap of members of Sarkin Samari’s family by terrorists in Tsafe Local Government Area.

On arrival, troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to withdraw into nearby bushes. Six kidnap victims were rescued and taken to safety pending reunification with their families.

The successes underscore the resolve and professionalism of troops in safeguarding lives and property across the North-West, the Task Force said.

The military enjoined members of the public to continue supporting troops with credible and timely information on activities of terrorists and other criminal elements.
