President Bola Tinubu has officially nominated Prof. Abayomi Fasina, the former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), to serve as a non-career ambassador or high commissioner.

The nomination was formally announced on Thursday during the Senate plenary, where Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the President’s letter to the lawmakers.

In his correspondence, President Tinubu requested the Senate’s legislative approval for the appointment and provided the nominee’s professional background for evaluation.

Following the announcement, the Senate referred the nomination to its Committee on Foreign Affairs for further screening.

The committee has been directed to conduct a review and report its findings to the chamber within one week.
