Former Ondo State Commissioner, Mrs. Olasinmi Akindele-Odunmbaku is dead.
Family sources said she had a heart failure in the middle of the night and was rushed to the hospital where she gave up the ghost in the early hours of Thursday
Akindele-Odunmbaku served under ex-Governor Olusegun Mimiko as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, then Community Development and Cooperative Services.
She joined the Ondo executive council in October 2015 and was known for work on women empowerment and social welfare.
Born Oct 9, 1966 to Prof. Akindele of Akunu-Akoko, she was an international fabric merchant, property developer and business consultant before politics.
She entered Ondo politics in 2004 under PDP and contested the Akoko North East/West House of Reps seat three times.
She was the first commissioner and first female from Isowopo Ward, Akoko North East LGA. Married to Cardinal James Odunmbaku, Lagos APC leader, she graduated from University of East London and championed gender equity until her death.
Family and officials are yet to issue statements.
