The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, says President Bola Tinubu’s four Legacy Highway Projects will transform Nigeria’s economy, strengthen national unity and drive inclusive development.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 125-kilometre Akwanga–Jos section of the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Super Highway in Nasarawa State, Idris said the projects are strategic investments to improve connectivity, facilitate trade and create jobs.

He listed the four flagship roads under the Renewed Hope Agenda as the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Super Highway, Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway and the Trans-Saharan Route. “President Tinubu is not just building roads; he is building economic corridors that will facilitate trade, create jobs, connect communities and drive inclusive national development,” Idris said.

The minister dismissed claims of regional imbalance, saying the highways cut across different parts of the country. Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, who flagged off the 125km Akwanga–Jos section of the 700km Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe–Yobe–Maiduguri route, said the project would nu done in phases to boost transport and development in the North Central and North-East.

Umahi said the North Central has 35 major federal road projects and 61 emergency interventions. APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, represented Tinubu at the event attended by Governors Abdullahi Sule, Inuwa Yahaya, Caleb Mutfwang and other officials
