President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, effective August 27, 2026.
Mr. Enitan will succeed Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is due to retire from the Federal Civil Service on attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.
This was contained in a State House press release signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
According to the statement, Mr. Enitan, who hails from Osun State, is the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service. He has served for seven years and seven months as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Office of the Vice President, and currently in the Federal Ministry of Education.
The President said Enitan brings considerable institutional experience and a deep understanding of the workings of the Federal Civil Service to his new role.
President Tinubu expressed appreciation to Mrs. Walson-Jack for her distinguished service and for the reforms, impact and innovations recorded during her tenure. He wished her a fulfilling life after service.
The President charged the incoming Head of Service to consolidate ongoing reforms, deepen professionalism and efficiency, and build a more responsive Civil Service capable of delivering the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He urged Enitan to lead a Civil Service that is professional, merit-driven, accountable, innovative and responsive to the needs of Nigerians.
Mr. Enitan was born on December 12, 1966. He attended Ajibode Grammar School, Ibadan and College of Arts and Science, Ile-Ife. He graduated from the University of Lagos in 1988 with a http://B.Sc. in Finance and Banking, and obtained an http://M.Sc. in Public Policy Analysis from Nasarawa State University, Lafia in 2015.
