The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber identified as Austine Emenike, commonly known as “Oyibo,” during an intelligence-led operation in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out under the directives of Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju, resulted in the recovery of several weapons, including one locally made pistol, four single-barrel guns, and five live cartridges.
According to police authorities, preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect is part of a larger criminal network operating in the area.
Law enforcement officials are currently pursuing leads to identify and apprehend other members of the gang to uncover the full extent of their criminal activities.
Commissioner Adepoju reaffirmed the command’s commitment to reducing violent crime across the state, emphasizing that intelligence-driven operations will continue until criminal elements are dismantled.
He further urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities, noting that public cooperation is essential to maintaining regional security.
