Public servants under Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council, JNPSNC, have reaffirmed September 30, 2026 ultimatum to Federal Government over petrol price, wage award and new minimum wage.
The council, comprising eight unions, in a statement Tuesday by National Secretary and General Secretary of Nigeria Civil Service Union, Gbenga Olowoyo, said failure to address demands before deadline will trigger three-day warning strike from October 2.
Recall JNPSNC in September 21 letter to President Bola Tinubu demanded slash of petrol to N500 per litre, immediate wage award and negotiation of not less than N500,000 minimum wage from 2027.
Olowoyo said deadline remains sacrosanct and President’s Independence anniversary speech must address the issues.
He demanded intervention fund to address landing costs, sale of crude to Dangote Refinery and modular refineries at appropriate terms, noting current PMS price of N1,450 to N2,500 per litre is unacceptable.
He also demanded urgent wage award to cushion hardship and constitution of tripartite committee for 2027 minimum wage to avoid delay.
Members of JNPSNC include Nigeria Civil Service Union, Medical and Health Workers Union, Association of Senior Civil Servants, NANNM, AUPCTRE, NUPSRAW, NUPPPPROW and NUAAE.
