Operatives of the Plateau State Police Command have arrested a fifth suspect in connection with the mob killing of Ibrahim Mbaya, a graduate of the University of Jos.
The 24-year-old suspect, identified as Yusuf Christopher Beskeni, was apprehended following intelligence-led operations by detectives.
According to the police, preliminary investigations reveal that Beskeni played a direct role in the assault. He allegedly helped tie the victim to a pole while a crowd subjected him to severe torture.
Mbaya, popularly known as “Ibee,” died on July 27 after being accused of stealing a mobile phone at an off-campus residence in Jos. The incident sparked widespread public outrage and renewed calls to end jungle justice.
The Plateau State Police Command assured the public that all individuals involved in the unlawful attack will be brought to justice.
Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing as security personnel continue their manhunt for other fleeing members of the mob.
