….Falana Condemns Substituted Arrest Of Adeniyi’s Father Says No Legal Basis

Prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, has revealed that police operatives have arrested the father of Adeyemi Adeniyi, Embattled Director-General of the controversial Presidential Fiscal and Infrastructure Projects Council, PFIPC.

Falana disclosed the development to journalists on Monday, stating that the arrest took place at the family’s residence in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

According to the senior advocate, police officers stormed the home and took Adeyemi’s father into custody along with a visiting family friend, a tactic Falana condemned as an illegal “substituted arrest.”

“Police have now stormed the house of the parents of Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi, Plot 3, Adeniyi Dynasty, behind Technical College, Road Safety Area, Ogbomoso,” Falana said.

“The father has been arrested. There is no legal basis for substituted arrests. The young man has promised to show up in court, so why arrest his father?”

Residents in the neighborhood corroborated the incident, describing an aggressive operation by the security forces. One resident, speaking on the condition of anonymity, noted that the officers arrived in a convoy of four vehicles.

“They came with four vehicles, and they started harassing them and eventually took the father away,” the resident said. “They didn’t allow the neighbours to intervene before they took him away. At the moment, there is a man in blue clothes patrolling the area.”

Another neighbor confirmed that the operation left Adeyemi’s mother deeply traumatized.

“Baba was taken away with someone who came to visit them this morning. They left the mother, who is currently in shock, but we have moved her away,” the resident added.

The incident marks an escalating twist in the ongoing controversy surrounding the PFIPC, an organization the presidency has repeatedly denounced as a fictitious entity.

Adeyemi is currently facing criminal prosecution before a Federal High Court in Abuja on charges bordering on alleged forgery, impersonation, and related offenses tied to his claims of being the council’s legitimately appointed Director-General.

Falana, who has been monitoring the situation, reiterated that the dispute over the agency must be handled through strict legal channels, emphasizing that only the judiciary holds the constitutional mandate to determine criminal liability.
