The Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has donated ₦10 million to the Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan College of Nursing Sciences, Oluyoro, Ibadan, as part of his support for healthcare education in Nigeria.
The donation was made during a visit to the institution after attending the opening of the 50th/15th Biennial Conference of the Methodist Church of Nigeria in Ibadan.
Obi met with the college management and students and reaffirmed that education remains a strong foundation for national development, especially in healthcare.
According to Obi, training competent nurses and other health professionals is essential to improving healthcare delivery and strengthening Nigeria’s future. He said the ₦10 million fulfils an earlier commitment to support the institution.
Addressing the students, Obi urged them to take their education seriously, describing nursing as one of the most important professions in the health system.
He encouraged them to pursue excellence, uphold professionalism and compassion, and become worthy ambassadors of Nigeria at home and abroad.
