Speaking shortly after the swearing-in ceremony , the Governor lamented that the state had been too polarized by politics and promised to set up a bi-partisan reconciliation committee soon, to address contending issues of the people.

According to him, “I call on our people to come together, let’s build a State where the pain of one Akwaibomite is the pain of all, and where the success of one Akwaibomite is the success for all.

“We have been too polarized by politics. This should not be. As I said in my Victory Speech, we will set up a bi-partisan reconciliation committee soon, so we can jaw-jaw instead of war-war on critical issues of our development, unity and brotherhood.”

He, therefore, called on the people to support his ARISE agenda to build on the legacies of the immediate past Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, saying he would be the Governor of all Akwa Ibom people irrespective of their political leanings.

“As we begin this government, we will invite all Akwa Ibomites to arise to the faith of greatness with our ARISE agenda from investment in agriculture, health care services and education; we will ensure that we continue changing the narratives of our state.

“We will continue to support our state civil servants, and we will ensure that their welfare becomes paramount. We will continue to build on the successes of Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel’s administration,” he added.

He pleaded with Emmanuel not to desert him after he exists office, saying his efforts and that of past governors of the state had placed Akwa Ibom State on its current pedestal with their achievements
