Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered homemade pistol, live cartridge, and motorcycle after robbery incident near Sumal Junction Roundabout in Ibadan.
Suspects, named Sunday Obasola, 29; Kayode Bamikole, 28; and Durodoye Ayobami, 23, were arrested on Thursday, October 8, 2026, around 9:15 p.m. This followed emergency call received by Divisional Police Officer, DPO, at Oluyole Division.
According to police reports, call informed them that armed men were attacking locals and stealing their belongings in area.
In statement released on Sunday by Police Public Relations Officer of command, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, it was noted that patrol team quickly responded to scene and apprehended suspects.
Among items recovered were black TVS motorcycle with registration number AKN 808QF, cut-down locally made pistol, and live cartridge.
Statement also mentioned that initial investigations showed suspects allegedly robbed tricycle driver and two passengers while injuring others during their crime spree.
Police confirmed suspects are still in custody as case has been handed over to Violence Crime Response Unit, VCRU, in Eleyele, Ibadan for further investigation.
Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, emphasized command’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property through quick responses to distress calls, intelligence-led policing, and ongoing efforts against criminal activities.
He urged community members to stay alert and report any suspicious behavior or criminal acts to law enforcement.
