The Oyo State Ministry of Education on Tuesday sealed off the Oke-Ogun College of Management Sciences and Technology in Iseyin over non-compliance with registration procedures.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Rahman Abiodun Abdu-Raheem explained that the decision to close the institution was in line with the government’s commitment to standardizing education in the state following due process.
He added that the institution’s management needs to do the needful in their quest to establish an institution before it will be reopened.
Recall that some indigenes of the town, under the auspices of ‘Ebedi Frontliner’, had petitioned the Oyo state government; the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu; and the National Board for Technical Education, asserting that the institution was neither registered nor accredited for students.
The Commissioner noted that the closure will help both the state and the college avoid unnecessary embarrassment.
