The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the full-time introduction of 24 new academic programmes at Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, commencing in the 2026/2027 academic session.
The approval was conveyed in an official letter signed by the NUC Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei, to the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh.
The newly accredited offerings comprise 14 undergraduate degrees and 10 postgraduate programmes following a successful resource verification exercise.
The approved undergraduate additions include:
* B.Sc. Architecture
* B.Sc. Quantity Surveying
* B.Sc. Surveying and Geoinformatics
* B.NSc. Nursing Science
* B.Community Health Science
* B.Eng. Computer Engineering
* B.Eng. Industrial and Production Engineering
* B.Eng. Biomedical Engineering
* B.Sc. Insurance and Risk Management
* Educational programmes including Technology Education, Educational Technology, Guidance and Counselling, Health Education, and Entrepreneurship Education.
The postgraduate approvals feature M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Fine and Applied Arts, Performing Arts, and Linguistics, alongside advanced degrees (PGD, M.Tech, and Ph.D.) in Food Science and Technology, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Public Administration, and Mass Communication.
Reacting to the news, Prof. Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh commended the university staff for their efforts during the accreditation process and reaffirmed KWASU’s commitment to maintaining high standards in teaching, research, and community development.
