Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Tuesday highlighted key achievements of his administration in the last four years, as he outlined his vision for a second term ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in Osogbo, the governor said his government had cleared over ₦80 billion in inherited pension liabilities and paid more than two-thirds of outstanding half-salary arrears owed to public servants.
“Fulfilling these obligations shows the political will to address long-standing debts and prioritize worker welfare,” Adeleke said.
He added that his administration’s record also covers infrastructure and social development. According to him, the government constructed 350 kilometers of roads, built three flyover bridges, rehabilitated over 200 primary healthcare centers and 150 schools, established the University of Ilesa, and deployed funds for agriculture and cooperative interventions.
On his political move,the governor explained his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the Accord Party, on whose platform he is seeking re-election. He attributed the decision to internal crises in his former party.
Adeleke also raised concerns over the conduct of security agencies ahead of the poll. He alleged that members of his party had been subjected to arbitrary arrests and intimidation, and called on President Bola Tinubu and the Inspector-General of Police to ensure neutrality.
Despite the concerns, the governor expressed confidence in the electoral process and urged citizens to remain peaceful.
“I am committed to a free, fair and transparent election,” he said.
