Oyebanji Approves her Appointment barely 24hrs after her retirement from Civil Service.
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the immediate appointment of Mrs Titilayo Olarike Olayinka as the Accountant General of the State, barely 24 hours after her retirement from the civil service.
Mrs Olayinka, who attained the mandatory retirement age of 60 on August 24, 2026, served as Accountant General/Permanent Secretary from November 28, 2019 till her retirement.
Announcing the appointment on Monday, the Governor said it underscores his administration’s resolve to retain highly competent hands to man strategic positions as preparations for his second term gather momentum.
A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, FCA, and Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, ACTI, Mrs Olayinka holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an MBA. She has extensive experience in the private sector, public sector and international development.
The Governor noted her strategic contributions to Ekiti’s improved standing in accountability, transparency and fiscal management over the past six years. Under her watch, Ekiti ranked number one in the BudgIT State Fiscal Transparency League for Q2, Q3, Q4 2024 and all quarters of 2025.
The State was also rated among the leading states in local government budget transparency and Subnational Audit Efficacy by PLSI, and among the top 10 states that published detailed budget information for LGAs and LCDAs.
In her new role, Mrs Olayinka has been mandated to set up a comprehensive training programme for accountants across the State Civil Service to enhance professional capacity.
With this appointment, Ekiti joins Enugu, Osun and Akwa Ibom which have engaged retired Accountants General, while Kwara, Ebonyi, Imo, Abia and Katsina have sourced professionals outside the civil service for the same office.
Mrs Olayinka began her career with Owena Mass Transportation Company, Akure in 1992. She later served as State Programme Accountant for UNDP between 1999 and 2003, and held senior positions in the Ministry of Health, Ekiti State Project Financial Management Unit, Ministry of Information and SUBEB before rising to Deputy Accountant General and then Accountant General in 2019.
Governor Oyebanji congratulated her on the new appointment and urged her to continue to serve with greater distinction and dedication.
