The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate and recovered three locally made pistols and 18 live cartridges during a follow-up investigation.*
The suspects, 46-year-old Adeyinka Onakomaya and 48-year-old Olayiwola Kehinde, were arrested at their hideouts in Babaode area along Idiroko Road, Ota, and in Lagos.
Police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi said the breakthrough came from sustained intelligence gathering and follow-up operations tied to the April robbery.
The command said the arrests followed investigations into the recovery of a stolen red Toyota Matrix linked to an armed robbery incident in April 2026. Police said sustained intelligence-led operations helped detectives trace the suspects.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the two arrested suspects, alongside other members of their gang, masterminded the April robbery incident and participated in a series of armed robbery operations and violent vehicle snatchings across Ota, Iju, Babaode and Atan areas of Ogun State,” Babaseyi said.
The police added that the suspects allegedly confessed during interrogation to participating in several robbery operations and have been providing useful information to investigators. Efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the alleged syndicate.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni commended the Anti-Robbery Team for their persistence and thorough follow-through, saying the arrests and firearms recovery reflect the command’s determination to see investigations through to completion.
He reassured Ogun residents that the command remains committed to dismantling armed robbery networks and urged the public to keep reporting suspicious activity in their communities.
