Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced plans to establish a ₦500 million Election Violence Victims Endowment Fund to provide relief and support to verified victims and families affected by electoral violence in the state.*
Adeleke made the announcement on Wednesday, August 19, after receiving his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, following his victory in the August 15 Osun governorship election.
The governor said the fund would be non-partisan and that eligible victims would not be discriminated against based on political affiliation, religion, ethnicity, gender or social status.
He added that the Adeleke family, through the Springtime Development Foundation, would provide full scholarships up to university level for children and dependants of persons who lost their lives during the electoral violence.
According to Adeleke, the measures are aimed at supporting affected families and providing relief to those who suffered injuries, property destruction, disrupted livelihoods and loss of loved ones during the electoral process
