The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has arrived in Osun State to intensify preparations for the forthcoming governorship election with focus on protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, CNAI.
The operational visit, which underscores the Corps’ statutory mandate, is aimed at safeguarding critical facilities against vandalism, sabotage and other threats during the electoral period.
As part of strategic engagements, Prof. Audi paid a courtesy visit to Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osogbo. Discussions centred on security preparedness, inter-agency coordination, and the protection of critical assets before, during and after the election.
Speaking during the meeting, the NSCDC boss declared zero tolerance for acts capable of undermining the electoral process.
“There is no room for vandalism or sabotage. We will decisively deal with anyone who attempts to disrupt the electoral process or compromise critical national assets and infrastructure,” he stated.
Prof. Audi reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to professionalism, neutrality and adherence to the Rules of Engagement, adding that the NSCDC would work in synergy with other security agencies to ensure a peaceful poll.
He said electoral facilities, sensitive materials and other infrastructure critical to the democratic process would receive adequate protection within the Corps’ mandate.
In his response, Governor Adeleke commended the Commandant General for the visit and acknowledged the NSCDC’s role in protecting critical infrastructure in the state. He also called for effective security deployment and coordination to deter threats to the election.
The NSCDC said the visit forms part of broader operational assessments and stakeholder engagements ahead of the poll to ensure a free, fair and credible electoral process.
