The Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Osun State Command has arrested 55 undocumented foreign nationals during a coordinated operation across different parts of the state.

The individuals, identified as citizens of Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo, were reportedly found residing in the state without valid travel or residency documents.

Immigration officials said the operation followed intelligence reports that led officers to several locations where the migrants were staying.

Speaking during the parade of the suspects, officials disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed that none of the migrants possessed passports or other legal travel documents.

The service also alleged that the group was involved in an online business operation that was not properly registered with relevant regulatory agencies. The migrants reportedly said they were engaged in a business known as QNET but provided limited details.

Officials said some of the migrants were residing in the Owode-Ede area. Efforts are ongoing to identify additional locations and individuals connected to the operation.

The NIS added that profiling of the suspects is underway to determine whether any qualify for regularisation under existing immigration laws. Investigations have also commenced into those who facilitated their movement and accommodation in the state.

The service stated that the arrested individuals are being processed for repatriation, while investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding their entry and stay in Nigeria.
