.….Intercepts 17 Irregular Migrants
The Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Adamawa State Command, has arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate and recovered ₦34 million in cash.
The suspects, identified as 55-year-old Alhaji Jaye and 34-year-old Buba Bello, were arrested on Saturday, 6 September 2026, during an operation by immigration officials.
According to the Command, preliminary questioning revealed that the ₦34 million was intended as ransom for the release of Buba Bello’s brother.
The Comptroller-General of NIS has directed that the suspects and the recovered money be handed over to the Adamawa State Police Command for further investigation.
In a separate operation, immigration officers also intercepted 17 irregular migrants at Rumde Baru in Yola South LGA following credible intelligence.
Preliminary profiling showed that 13 were Cameroonian nationals — eight males and five females — while the remaining four were Chadian males. They were found in a private three-bedroom residence.
The Command said it remains committed to strengthening migration management and border security and urged personnel to provide timely intelligence on security threats.
