The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Abuja Operations Office has coordinated the reception of 32 Nigerian nationals returned from the Republic of Türkiye.
The returnees arrived on Monday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, aboard a chartered aircraft, following notification from the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The exercise is part of the Federal Government’s effort to ensure safe, orderly and dignified return of citizens abroad.
NEMA said the reception involved documentation, profiling, medical screening and humanitarian assistance before handing the returnees over to relevant authorities for reintegration.
Head of NEMA Abuja Operations Office, Pharm. Zakari Abubakar, said every returning Nigerian deserves dignity and compassion. He urged the returnees to take advantage of government reintegration programmes to rebuild their lives.
He also commended the collaboration of agencies involved, including the Nigerian Immigration Service, NCFRMI, the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, airport authorities and security agencies.
The agency said the exercise underscores government’s commitment to humane treatment and sustainable reintegration of returning Nigerians.
