The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC has confirmed 1,016 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday with Lagos recording its second highest since the pandemic broke out in February.
The agency also confirmed 11 deaths in the last 24hrs.The deaths were recorded in five states and Abuja, the Federal capital.
Kaduna and Delta posted three deaths each, Edo 2,while Abuja, Sokoto and Plateau posted one death each.
Since December 1st when the death toll was 1176 , 102 people have died taking Nigeria death to 1,278.
The new cases were recorded in 20 states and the FCT.
Lagos which has been the epicenter of the pandemic recorded 434 new cases followed by FCT with 155 newly confirmed cases.
Other States reporting new Infections are Plateau-94, Kaduna-56, Rivers-56, Oyo-30
Nasarawa-27, Zamfara-25, Abia-22, Enugu-18, Kano-18, Bayelsa-15, Edo-14, Ogun-11
Borno-10, Ebonyi-10, Jigawa-7, Anambra-4
Delta-3, Niger-3 and Osun with 3 new cases.
The new cases has moved Nigeria’s confirmed cases of COVID-19 to 86,576, while 73,322 survivors have been discharged from isolation centers across the country.
Leaving a total of 11,976 active cases in the country.
