The Lagos State Government has disclosed plans to implement partial traffic diversions in several parts of the state ahead of scheduled commissioning of key infrastructure projects on Wednesday and Thursday.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, explained that the measure is aimed at ensuring public safety and facilitating the smooth execution of the events.

Motorists were advised to make adequate travel arrangements and avoid the affected routes within the stipulated periods to reduce congestion and delays.

According to the government, the commissioning of the Opebi–Mende Link Bridge will take place on Wednesday, April 8, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., with traffic expected to be impacted around the Opebi-Allen axis in Ikeja as well as Ojota.

Road users plying the corridor during the exercise were urged to consider alternative routes to ease movement.

On Thursday, April 9, two separate commissioning ceremonies are scheduled.

The first, holding between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., involves the inauguration of the Tolu Schools Complex, which will affect traffic around Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle.

Residents and commuters in those areas were advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys.

A second event later that day, slated for 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., will take place within the Victoria Island axis, including the vicinity of Eko Hotel.

Motorists were cautioned to avoid the area or prepare for possible delays during the period.

The government added that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, alongside other traffic personnel, will be on ground to manage vehicular movement and assist road users throughout the duration of the events.
