The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base, FOB Badagry, has handed over 106 parcels of suspected Cannabis sativa to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.
The items were recovered on Monday, 7 September 2026, by naval personnel deployed at Naval Outpost Tongeji during a targeted operation in the Badagry–Porto Novo maritime corridor, following credible information on suspected illicit drug activities in the area.
According to the Navy, the suspected traffickers fled upon sighting the patrol team, preventing any arrest during the operation.
The recovered parcels, wrapped in yellow and orange materials, were subsequently handed over to NDLEA officials at FOB Badagry, Lagos State, for further investigation and necessary action.
Speaking at the handover, naval officers reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Navy to tackling illicit activities within Nigeria’s maritime environment through sustained operations and collaboration with relevant security agencies.
NDLEA officials received the exhibits and signed the necessary documentation to commence further investigation.
