The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has shut down several shops at the Trade Fair Complex, Lagos, over suspected sale of unregistered cosmetic products.
The agency’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate, Cosmetics Division, carried out a two-day enforcement operation at the complex on August 26 and 27, 2026, to remove the products from circulation.
NAFDAC said the operation covered shops and business premises where suspected unregistered cosmetics were identified. The affected premises include Vincentmo World opposite Bmeck Plaza, Private Plaza; Amazon City of Fragrance, Shops 37 and 38, Beauty Promise Land Plaza; Aza-King Store Perfumes opposite Fidelity Bank; PP2 and Fragrance Int’l Ltd, Design Perfumes and Cosmetics; No. D12 Fragrance Doctor Shop, Abia Plaza; and God and Obaino Fragrance Store opposite Wave Plaza.
Other identified shops within the complex were also affected.
The agency said the premises were locked and placed under “NAFDAC HOLD” labels pending further regulatory action. Samples of the suspected unregistered cosmetic products were collected for laboratory investigation.
NAFDAC also issued invitation letters to the owners and operators of the shops for interrogation and necessary regulatory proceedings.
The agency reiterated its commitment to rid the market of unregistered and unsafe cosmetic products and warned traders to ensure all products in their custody are duly registered with NAFDAC.
