The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Audi, has paid a condolence visit to the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago, and families of 33 suspected illegal miners who died in custody of Niger State Command.
Audi, who visited during third and seventh-day prayers for the deceased, condoled with families and assured that Corps will not shield anyone found culpable.
He said Federal Government has constituted high-powered investigative committee to probe incident and that relevant personnel have been placed in protective custody to ensure transparent investigation.
Audi in a statement by the Spokesman of Corps, Babawale Afolabi, said NSCDC is fully cooperating with Presidential panel to uncover truth.
Responding, the Emir appreciated CG for swift actions and for personally identifying with the community in their moment of grief.
