Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, Lagos State University branch, has commenced indefinite strike over Lagos State Government’s alleged failure to implement 2026 SSANU-FGN agreement.
The Union’s National Executive Council approved the action after the seven-day ultimatum issued to state government expired on October 2 without implementation of agreement.
SSANU said dispute includes 35 per cent Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Non-Teaching Tools Allowance and other earned allowances.
Development comes amid wider industrial dispute involving workers in Lagos State-owned universities. ASUU, SSANU, NASU and NAAT have also declared indefinite strike action affecting LASU, LASUED, LASUSTECH and LASUCOM over unimplemented agreements and outstanding welfare demands.
Unions have demanded implementation of agreed salary and allowance structures, payment of outstanding arrears and other welfare commitments.
Lagos State Government has said it is working towards resolving dispute and had indicated that approval for funding was being pursued.
