Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered a locally fabricated pistol and assorted charms during a routine patrol in the Igando area of the state.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Olajunja Segun Samson, was arrested after a police patrol team spotted three men riding a motorcycle and acting suspiciously.

“On sighting the police, the suspects attempted to flee. One of the suspects, Olajunja Segun Samson, was apprehended, while the two other suspects escaped, abandoning the motorcycle,” Adebisi said.

She added that a search of the suspect and the abandoned motorcycle led to the recovery of “one locally fabricated pistol and assorted charms.”

According to the police, the suspect is in custody while efforts are ongoing to arrest the two fleeing accomplices.

“The suspect is currently in Police custody while efforts are being intensified to apprehend the fleeing accomplices. Investigation into the case is ongoing,” the statement said.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the officers for their vigilance and professionalism.

He reassured residents of the command’s commitment to tackling violent crime and urged the public to provide timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and the arrest of criminal suspects.
