The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, October 24, 2026, in Dutse.

Police operatives attached to Guri Division arrested a 23-year-old suspect, Abdullahi Maina, of Fulatari Quarters, Nguru Local Government Area of Yobe State, on October 21 at about 9:30 a.m.

The suspect was reportedly found in possession of a high-tension cable concealed in a sack.

The police said the recovered cable had been taken into custody for further investigation, adding that efforts were ongoing to arrest the suspect’s alleged accomplices.

In a related development, operatives attached to Dutse Division arrested two other suspects, identified as Ahmed Garba, 20, and Abdullahi Garba, 25, both residents of Jigawar Tsada town in Dutse Local Government Area.

The duo were arrested at the Manpower Development Institute, Dutse, at about 3:00 a.m. on the same day.

The statement alleged that the suspects conspired, trespassed into the institute’s premises and stole armoured cables.

The three suspects are currently in police custody, with investigations ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incidents and determine whether other individuals were involved.

The command said the suspects would be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction upon the completion of investigations at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, in Dutse.

The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, CP Tijjani Murtala, reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting public infrastructure and combating vandalism and theft across the state.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

The police advised residents to support security agencies in safeguarding public facilities and essential infrastructure against criminal activities.
