The Jigawa State Hisbah Board has arrested eight persons over alleged homosexual acts in Kazaure Local Government Area of the state.
Public Relations Officer of the Board, Dauda Hadejia, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
Hadejia said the arrests followed a complaint lodged by a 22-year-old man who alleged that nine individuals had engaged in homosexual acts with him on different occasions.
According to him, the complainant also claimed he later contracted HIV, which he attributed to the alleged acts, and appealed to Hisbah authorities to seek justice.
“Our men swung into action after receiving the complaint and so far eight suspects have been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspect,” Hadejia said.
He said during preliminary investigations, the eight arrested suspects reportedly admitted to the act.
He added that the Hisbah Corps had compiled relevant information and evidence for presentation before the court.
Hadejia quoted the Deputy Commander-General of the Board, Dr. Hussain Baban, as advising parents to be more vigilant about their children’s upbringing and to monitor their associations.
Baban also called on members of the public to fear God and remain mindful of the consequences of their actions.
The PRO said investigation was ongoing and the suspects would be charged to court upon completion.
He said the Deputy Commander-General expressed appreciation to the Jigawa State Government for its support to the Hisbah Board.
