The only way out of bullying that is happening in some boarding schools is to inculcate into the children the fear God.

The Proprietress of Mummy’s Place Nursery & Primary School and Emplace College, Akure, Pastor (Dr.) Damilola Oshin gave the assertion on Monday when speaking with Present Newspaper in her office.

According to her, inculcating the fear of God in the children, will help them to value life and be their brother’s keeper anyday, anytime.

“In our school here, we have taught our students to care for one another over the years. The culture of love is being inculcated into our students. Whenever we have a new student in our school, other students in the class will rally round to ensure that he/she gets along. They will help such student to complete his/her notes up to date.”

Dr. Oshin also called upon parents and guardians to pay quality attention to their children and wards to enable them turn out well in all areas of life. She stressed that the roles of parents cannot be overemphasized, and therefore called on them to create adequate time for their children and wards, so that they (the children) won’t be distracted especially with the era of these social media apps which many children now engage themselves with.

“It is only God that can help this generation of children, because of their exposures; they are always on social media and most times, they are on search engines to see whatever they love to see on internet. If a child has the knowledge of God, it will help him or her. The Bible says we should ‘teach a child the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it’.”

“We should teach them the love of God so that they can in turn show love to one another. On this, parents have great roles to play in the upbringing of the children.

“It seemed to me parents have little or no time for their children whereas, there should be time to counsel them, times to oversee to their welfare, to tell them this is what is right and this is what is wrong.”

“It does not matter how hard we work to gather wealth, if we do not take time to work on our children, all the hard work will just go down the drain.”

She also used the opportunity to advise the students to focus on their future saying that the major reason their parents send them to school is to prepare them for the future and that they should not allow today to truncate their tomorrow.

On the preparedness of the school for the commencement of academic activities for the new term, Dr. Oshin said her school had designed a mechanism in line with Ondo State Ministry of Education to cover the syllabus meticulously.

According to her: “In Mummy’s Place and Emplace College we have put all the necessary machinery in place for smooth resumption and to give our pupils the best of education and quality moral upbringing.

As regards the continuous compliance with the Covid-19 Protocols, she said the school; under her management; ensures strict adherence to the rules and regulations guiding it, saying that the virus is still very much around; especially with the discovery of the omicron variant.

She pointed out that regular washing of hands with soap, use of sanitizers, use of face masks and use of infrared thermometer to test for body temperatures are being adhered to religiously.
