The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has honoured a retired traffic officer, Anifa Bello Abiodun, for her outstanding service to the Nigeria Police Force.
The retired Deputy Superintendent of Traffic, DST, was presented with the IGP’s Award of Recognition and cash support at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.
Disu commended Abiodun for her professionalism, discipline and dedication to traffic management during her years of service in the Ogun State Police Command, particularly in Abeokuta.
He said the retired officer distinguished herself through commitment to duty, earning the admiration of residents and road users in the communities where she served.
According to the IGP, Nigerians appreciate the police when officers discharge their duties professionally, noting that public complaints are often directed at misconduct and not the institution.
He said while the Force will continue to sanction personnel found wanting, it is equally important to reward officers who demonstrate integrity and exemplary conduct.
“The recognition of officers like DST Anifa Bello Abiodun reinforces the values we expect and encourages others to serve with dedication,” Disu said.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, said in a statement that the Force remains committed to promoting accountability and celebrating officers whose service strengthens public confidence.
