Erling Haaland has emerged as the leading top scorer in the English Premier League for the 2025/26 season, securing his third Golden Boot in four seasons with Manchester City.

The Norwegian star was rested and left out of the squad for City’s final match on Sunday, a 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa, as the club celebrated manager Pep Guardiola’s trophy-laden, ten-year reign in his final game in charge. Haaland finished the campaign with 27 goals in 35 league appearances, though his prolific return fell just short of denying Arsenal the Premier League title.

With this third Golden Boot, Haaland joins Alan Shearer and Harry Kane as three-time winners, leaving him trailing only Mohamed Salah and Thierry Henry, who have won the award four times in the Premier League era.

Haaland began the campaign in blistering form, netting 19 of his Premier League goals within the first 17 games of the season. His immense importance to Manchester City was highlighted during a rare lean spell around the turn of the year, where he scored just once, a penalty against Brighton—across seven games, a stretch in which City managed only two victories and arguably dropped the crucial points that cost them the title.

The 25-year-old found his scoring boots again for a late-season push, scoring the winner away to Liverpool and netting against Arsenal in last month’s highly anticipated title showdown. However, despite his big-game contributions, dropped points against Everton and Bournemouth allowed the Gunners to seal their first league championship in 22 years.

Finishing as the runner-up to Haaland was Brentford’s Igor Thiago, whose impressive 22-goal haul propelled him into the Brazil national squad ahead of the upcoming World Cup. Behind them, a competitive chasing pack featured high-profile campaigns from several forward lines across the league.

The final standings for the top ten goalscorers of the Premier League 2025/26 season showcase the distribution of goals across the top flight:

Erling Haaland of Manchester City secured the top spot with 27 goals, followed by Igor Thiago of Brentford who claimed second place with 22 goals. Antoine Semenyo of Manchester City finished third with 16 goals, while João Pedro of Chelsea took fourth place with 15 goals.

A four-way tie emerged for the next positions, with Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest, Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa, Viktor Gyökeres of Arsenal, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin of Leeds United all finishing the campaign with 14 goals each. Rounding out the top ten were Danny Welbeck of Brighton & Hove Albion and Junior Kroupi of AFC Bournemouth, both concluding their seasons with 13 goals apiece.
