While sealing the companies, Special Adviser to the Governor on Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency, OGEPA, who doubles as Chairman of the State Taskforce on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, Farouk Akintunde said Colourful Africa Recycling Limited was found guilty of operating in the state without obtaining the required environmental approval as well as discharging untreated waste into the environment.

He said Dinshengyuan Plastic Limited was equally found to be operating without necessary environmental approval and not providing Personal Protective Equipment to its workers, thereby exposing them to environmental hazards.

Akintunde said, “For Long Xiang Aluminium Nigeria, manufacturing of aluminium products, was found culpable of incessant discharge of untreated effluent into the environment and continuous operation despite earlier government “Stop Work Order” while Yilbao Plastic Nigeria Limited which is into collection and recycling of used PET bottles into flakes was equally guilty of unabated pollution and poor waste water management.

He disclosed that all entreaties, warnings and timelines giving to the companies to correct the infractions were not adhered to and the state government had no option than to shut them for overriding public interest.

Akintunde appreciated Industries that were environmentally friendly in their operational processes, saying those who falls short would not be spared as the state government is determined to enthrone best environmental standard among Industries operating in the state.
