According to official police reports, the suspect was apprehended after a coordinated operation by investigators tracking a series of targeted coercion complaints.
Authorities allege that the suspect utilised coercive blackmail tactics to exploit his victims over an extended period.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said the first victim, a 20-year-old POS operator at Akwata Market, Enugu, whose identity is withheld, was allegedly lured to a bush behind St. Peter’s Church, Coal Camp, at about 11:00 a.m. on May 21, 2026, where the suspect allegedly robbed and assaulted her, taking N600,000.
The second victim, a 30-year-old POS operator at the same market, was allegedly lured to the same location at about 5:00 p.m. on August 11, 2026, and robbed of N120,000.
Ndukwe said the third victim, aged 21, was allegedly lured through Facebook by the suspect, posing as Franklin Umeh, to Old Park, Enugu, at about 11:30 a.m. on October 4, 2026, before being taken to a bush around Udi Siding. He allegedly assaulted her, recorded her and robbed her of N100,000 and her phone. He subsequently threatened to circulate the video unless she paid N200,000 and allegedly used her phone to contact some of her WhatsApp contacts.
Ndukwe added that investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will be arraigned in court upon conclusion.
He urged other victims to come forward and assist the investigation. He appealed to young women who have experienced cyberstalking or sextortion to report such incidents to the Police for appropriate action.
