The dismissal was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by the corps’ Public Relations Officer, CSA Yusuf Idowu Abass.
The statement disclosed that the dismissal followed disciplinary proceedings conducted on Monday, October 26, 2026.
According to the statement, “the allegations against the officer were formally presented during the proceedings by the command’s Ambassador Provost, CSP Joshua Omogbehin, retd.”
The statement said the officer acknowledged the allegations levelled against him during the disciplinary process, after which the command decided to dismiss him from service in accordance with applicable regulations.
“Following the disciplinary process, he was dismissed from service in accordance with the applicable regulations,” the statement said.
The command also directed the dismissed officer to surrender all Amotekun uniforms, equipment and other official materials in his possession as part of the disengagement process.
Reacting to the development, the Corps Commander, Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to discipline, professionalism and accountability among personnel.
Omoyele warned that the corps would not tolerate acts of indiscipline, misconduct or behaviour capable of damaging the reputation of the security outfit.
According to the Commander, “all officers are expected to maintain high standards of conduct and perform their duties in line with the rules and regulations governing the organisation.”
He urged personnel to remain disciplined, vigilant and committed to their responsibilities, warning that officers found guilty of gross misconduct would face appropriate disciplinary measures.
The Commander also appealed to members of the public to take note of the dismissal, stressing that Awopeju Cornelious Sanjo was no longer an operative of the Osun Amotekun Corps.
The statement advised members of the public not to recognise or present Sanjo as a serving Amotekun officer, adding that he no longer had the authority or official status to act on behalf of the corps.
The Command reiterated its commitment to accountability, professionalism and the protection of lives and property across Osun State.
It also maintained that personnel were expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the organisation’s rules and objectives.
